    In celebration of Ernie Ball and MusicMan's 25th Anniversary Steve Lukather and Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band) took part in a "session event" at the Guitar Center in San Jose, Ca on May 29th. Master of ceremonies/bass player was Sterling Ball and accompanying the trio was drummer John Ferraro (Larry Carlton). Of course Reggie Boyle was there to make a report and some interviews.

    Jeff Babko, keyboard player and long time Steve Lukather cohort was playing a Los Angeles area gig at the world famous Baked Potato with his side project Shogun Warrior. This gave me the chance to see Jeff up close and talk to him about himself and his work with Luke. But first off I talked to guitar player Toshi Yanagi, Babko's partner in Shogun and on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

    Steve Lukather: "I lost a very dear friend and famed guitarist: David Williams. He passed from a stroke. I had just spoken to him before I left town, I stil have his message on my voice mail at home. Way too young to pass. I am gutted by this sudden loss. We have played together on countless records. He was most known for the Michael Jackson, Madonna and Brian Ferry. Myself and Jeff Porcaro, along with David Williams and Paich and Steve P as well, did many other sessions over the last 30 + years. I am blown away by this loss. I loved him very much. My show in Paris is dedicated to him tonight. God Bless him and his family, Luke."

    I went to see Graham Bonnet, Howie Simon and Glen Sobel with Alcatrazz the other day where I ran into Phil Soussan (Ozzy, Steve Lukather, John Waite). Phil asked me if I've been in touch with any of the Toto boys besides Luke. I thought to myself, no! So I contacted Simon Phillips to get an update from him.

    What an amazing day in the studio! I asked Steve Lukather from TOTO, (anyone who knows guitarists knows he is a guitar legend) to do some dueling guitars for my instrumental that I told you all about back in October 2008. He is simply hard to watch cause his fingers fly and the tone and ability that he has on the guitar is a wonderful to experience right in front of your own eyes. The song is in Eb tuning and his signature model guitar was in concert tuning so he told me he could play one of mine.

    Steve Lukather is among the artists paying tribute to the inventor of the guitar they play the most, Les Paul. On Les Paul & Friends: A Tribute to a Legend, Steve Lukather and Chieli Minucci are featuring on I saw the light. Aerosmith'Joe Perry, Les Paul and Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall tackle Al Kooper's I love you more than you'll ever know. Peter Frampton, Les and Johnny Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls cover U-2's All I ever want is you. Other artists on the album include Richie Sambora, Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Joan Osborne and the late Hiram Bullock, in his last recording. The album will be out on September 30th. Note: This album is different from the 2005 tribute album Les Paul & Friends: American made world played! On November 15th, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will hold a star-studded tribute concert to Les Paul.

    Steve Lukather guested with Rascal Flatts at the Susquehana Center in the Philadelphia area on September 12th 2008. Luke sang the Toto hits "I'll be Over You" and "Rosanna" and jammed on the RF hit "These Days" . The RF guys are huge fans of Steve Lukather,Toto and classic rock in general. I had the chance to talk to RF bandmember Travis Toy who plays guitar and pedal steel guitar for RF.

    On Friday September 12th 2008 Steve Lukather will be making a "special guest" appearance with country giants Rascal Flatts at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Philadelphia-Camden NJ. Steve Lukather has recently performed at the historic Red Rocks near Denver supporting Jethro Tull. This historic show on September 12th will feature Steve performing some Toto hits along with Steve playing with Rascal Flatts on some of their biggest hits.

    In December 2007 I met Fee Waybill the lead singer of The Tubes at a Richard Marx/Vince Gill Charity Event in Palm Springs, Ca. I thought with his longtime musical relationship/friendship with Steve Lukather Fee would be great for an interview. We ended up getting together at The Tubes show at the Canyon Club in Agoura, Ca.     Rockline and it's host Bob "B.C." Coburn are an institution in the Rock Music Radio world. The syndicated show is aired across the nation and is heard by as many as 2,000,000 listeners. B.C. has hosted well over 2,500 shows with guests such as Rod Stewart, The Who, Jeff Beck, Ringo, George,Paul, Elton John, Bob Dylan and Robert Plant just to name a very few! Steve Lukather called him a legend. Luke was B.C.'s guest the night I was lucky enough to attend Rockline. Luke was there to promote his latest solo C.D. "Ever Changing Times" and touch on his historic past work.
